Job Description
Meridian Technology Group is seeking a Transportation Electrification Engineer.
Description:
- Engage with business and fleet customers, providing expert advice, recommendations, and excellent customer experience throughout. You will also conduct fleet assessments for customers enrolling in company’s fleet programs, including an electric vehicle feasibility assessment, charging needs analysis, and cost of ownership analysis.
- Travel to customer sites and perform site assessments, evaluating optimal layout of electric vehicle charging infrastructure based on nearby utility distribution infrastructure, parking area layout, and customer requirements
- Create preliminary site designs and cost estimates outlining proposed charging infrastructure layout, construction costs, and incentives
- Research and assess new TE technologies, products, and services for technical feasibility, performance, user experience, and utility services and integration
Responsibilities:
- Engineering Standards
- Maintains currency in state-of-the-art engineering practices and independently applies professional knowledge of engineering processes and standards to assignments/projects.
- Applies knowledge of construction practices and materials, design tools, techniques, regulatory requirements and applicable state and federal codes.
- Engineering Production
- Prepares a variety of moderately complex engineering deliverables; leads smaller project teams.
- Develops engineering solutions that meet technical requirements, all applicable codes, regulatory requirements and follow sound engineering practice.
- Completes a range of overhead or underground material and equipment specifications. Updates existing standards and work practices.
- Revises and implements underground material and equipment specifications, participates in standards review meetings and obtains input and technical data from various technical stakeholders.
- Project Coordination
- Assigns tasks and coordinates with other internal/external team members on assigned projects; shares information and provides professional guidance in executing project tasks.
- Provides engineering expertise to projects with complex design, construction, operation, maintenance or testing elements in support of engineering and construction needs; contributes to capital budget and job estimates.
High-level overview of the team size, roles, its initiatives/deliverables, and any tool/technologies specific to the team/department/project they will be supporting:
- There are 3 other TE Engineers on the team, plus Energy Storage Engineers and Project Managers. The TE Engineers play a critical role in the company’s ability to plan for, serve, and manage TE load.
“A day in the life” of this role:
- Managing engineering contracts and reviewing drawings, performing site feasibility reviews, leading, or contributing towards TE projects, meetings with other teams to collaborate and coordinate work.
What interaction level with this role have the team members and hiring manager?
- A lot of interaction with other TE engineers and TE program team.
- 1:1s and team meetings with hiring manager.

Preferred:
- Experience in utility distribution system design, construction, or operations and maintenance
- Experience in electric vehicle charging infrastructure design or installation (light-duty through heavy-duty) and charging equipment (Level 2 and DC Fast Charging)
- Project management experience
- Experience driving and charging electric vehicles
- Knowledge of Electric Service Requirements/design standards and/or National Electric Code (NEC)
- Interest in, or passion for, Transportation Electrification
- Comfortable in ambiguity and areas without defined processes
- Ability to speak confidently and build trust with customers
- Basic knowledge of electrical fundamentals (volts, amps, kilowatts, kilowatt-hours)
- Excellent internal and customer-facing written and oral communication skills
- Intermediate knowledge of company QA/QC process and procedures.
- Working knowledge of construction feasibility.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, civil, mechanical, or other engineering discipline from ABET accredited engineering program or program accredited by an equivalent agency.
Certification Requirements:
- Certifications, Licenses and Training Professional Engineering Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam strongly preferred.
Location is Portland, OR with Work From Home Flexibility. Consultants should reside in the area or indicate the reason they are willing/seeking to relocate. Also, interested Consultants must indicate they are willing to relocate at their own expense as this position does not offer relocation assistance.
