Systems Administrator - AWS Concentration

Our State Client is in search of a Systems Administrator to play a key role in assisting them in the oversight, management, troubleshooting, and execution of cloud services and platforms to support their infrastructure, applications, data, and other business needs. The duties of this position can be broad and may include such tasks as adding and removing individuals from the list of authorized users, archiving files, overseeing password protection and other security measures, and monitoring usage of shared resources. Architect, design, facilitate, lead, coordinate, and direct technology initiatives on multiple fronts across a variety of disparate areas within the organization. This could include Infrastructure administration, application development, data management & analytics, cybersecurity, external hosting, identity and access management, infrastructure, network, security hardening, privacy, and compliance. Oversight and management of Microsoft 365 environments and other Microsoft platforms, identity platforms, and a multi-cloud environment. Selects, develops, integrates, and implements network management applications for Internet components. The Systems Administrator will be responsible for working on projects, systems, and/or issues of medium to high complexity and will be expected to provide daily operations support, maintenance, and administration for Servers. This position requires ownership of complex issues in order to support Department business.

Experience

  • 2 – 3 years experience with: Server 2012 R2, 2016, 2019, and 2022.
  • 2 – 3 years IIS Administration.
  • 2 – 3 years of network communications, including TCP/IP and DNS Samba/CIFS file sharing and NTFS permissions.
  • 2 – 3 years of strong professional experience in AWS cloud systems is required.
  • 2 – 3 years of strong professional experience in Microsoft Azure cloud systems is highly desired.
  • 2 – 3 years of experience with other cloud providers, such as GCP, is highly desired.
  • 2 – 3 years of professional experience in the administration of Microsoft software is highly desired.
  • 3 – 5 years of IT work experience in infrastructure/network environments in systems operations, support, maintenance, and administration.
  • 3 – 5 years of professional experience supporting middleware such as API Management, IT Service Automation tools, and batch job services is highly desired.
  • 5 – 8 years of professional experience in information systems engineering or a related field is required.

Primary Job Duties/ Tasks
The activities this candidate will be tasked with include, but are not limited to, the following:
  1. Support and expand Client's infrastructure.
  2. Coordinate server configuration and administration with multiple parties.
  3. Make recommendations for future server and software upgrades.
  4. Monitor systems and applications to ensure security, availability, and performance.
  5. Establish systems by evaluating network performance issues, including availability, utilization, throughput, goodput, and latency; planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment; defining network policies and procedures; and establishing connections and firewalls.
  6. Maintains network and systems performance by performing systems monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting systems and application problems; escalating problems to vendor.
  7. Build and manage relationships in a matrixed environment.
  8. Find opportunities to refactor solutions to obtain better performance, cost, and efficiency.
  9. Create and manage Azure DevOps projects, git repositories, and pipelines.
  10. Oversee and configure Azure DevOps organizational settings. 1
  11. Recommend and assist with the building and hosting of complex application solutions.
  12. Understand, deploy, and manage AWS, Microsoft Azure, and/or other cloud services.
  13. Supports other IT staff, including developers.
  14. Other duties as assigned.

  9. In-depth knowledge of AWS Services.
  10. Proficiency in Microsoft Azure Services.
  11. In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Server products.
  12. In-depth knowledge of Linux (Redhat and Ubuntu).
  13. Strong grasp of IT infrastructure and application development technology and architectures.
  14. Strong grasp of Linux administration, including Linux patching.
  15. Knowledge of assessment and analytical processes and practices. 1
  16. Skill in strategic planning.
  17. Skill in researching, compiling, and analyzing data to report findings and develop improvement solutions.
  18. Skill in system administration and hosting across a wide range of solutions.
  19. Ability to research, identify, and implement innovative solutions.

Other Information:
  • This is a Contract assignment with our Client: Florida State Government
  • Work Location: Onsite in Tallahassee, FL
  • Full-rime: 40 hours per week
  • Duration: 12 months with probable extensions to one year.
  • This is a W-2 Contract role with Meridian.
  • Health Benefits Available.
  • Contract Pay Rate Range: $55.00 to $58.00 Per Hour.
  • There is no C2C or Visa Sponsorship with this role.


This position is located in Tallahassee, Florida. Consultants should reside in the area or indicate the reason they are willing/seeking to relocate. Also, interested Consultants must indicate they are willing to relocate at their own expense as this position does not offer relocation assistance.
