Meridian Technology Group is seeking a Senior Business Systems Analyst.
Required Skills
Prefer 8 or more years of experience in or knowledge of specific line of business and/or IT environment
Top 3 Must-Haves (Hard and/or Soft Skills):
- 1. IT background with integrations and application implementations.
- 2. Business analysis skills, knowledge of the International Institute of Business Analysis - BABOK processes.
- 3. High proficiency with Microsoft Products. And the ability to create data visualizations and communicate highly technical processes to business professionals.
- 1. Ability to prioritize requirements and negotiate with various stakeholders
- 2. Adaptability in a team environment.
- 3. Creativity and critical thinking.
Utilities experience preferred but not required.
Certification Requirements (Any Preferences):
- Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) certification preferred
Job Description: Senior Business Systems Analyst
Summary

- Take responsibility for investigative work to determine business requirements and specify effective business processes, through improvements in information systems, information management, practices, procedures, and organization change.
- Apply and monitor the use of modelling and analysis tools, methods and standards, giving special consideration to business perspectives.
- Collaborate with stakeholders at all levels, in the conduct of investigations for strategy studies, business requirements specifications and feasibility studies.
- Prepare business cases which define potential benefits, options for achieving these benefits through development of new or changed processes, and associated business risks.
- Facilitate scoping and business priority setting for large or complex changes, engaging senior stakeholders as required.
- Select the most appropriate means of representing business requirements in the context of a specific change initiative.
- Drive the requirements elicitation process where necessary, identifying what stakeholder input is required.
- Obtain formal agreement from a large and diverse range of potentially senior stakeholders and recipients to the scope and requirements, plus the establishment of a baseline on which delivery of a solution can commence.
- Take responsibility for the investigation and application of changes to program scope. Identify the impact on business requirements of external impacts affecting a program or project.
- Manage provision of consultancy services and/or management of a team of consultants.
- In own areas of expertise, provide advice and guidance to consultants and/or the client through involvement in the delivery of consultancy services.
- Engage with clients and maintains client relationships.
- Establish agreements/contracts and manage completion and disengagement.
- Analyze business processes; identify alternative solutions, assess feasibility, and recommend new approaches, typically seeking to exploit technology components.
- Evaluate the financial, cultural, technological, organizational and environmental factors which must be addressed in the change program.
- Establish client requirements for the implementation of significant changes in organizational mission, business functions and process, organizational roles and responsibilities, and scope or nature of service delivery.
- Identify specific measures and mechanisms by which benefits can be measured and plans to activate these mechanisms at the required time.
- Monitor benefits against what was predicted in the business case and ensures that all participants are informed and involved throughout the change program and fully prepared to exploit the new operational business environment once it is in place.
- Support senior management to ensure that all plans, work packages and deliverables are aligned to the expected benefits and leads activities required in the realization of the benefits of each part of the change program.

Team and Work Environment
- Team size: 10 direct team members, 30 individual contributors
- Project initiatives: Streamline and standardize project and portfolio management through consolidating tools and implementing a new software application.
- Applications used: Quickbase, P6, ERP, Maximo, Coupa, Microsoft Products, WinEst, DevonWay.
- “A day in the life” of this role: This team member would contribute to information gathering from all direct team members and individual contributors, to inform the software integrations and implementation requirements to support the project initiative. This would include attending project team meetings and initiating 1:1 meetings with individual contributors to report back to the project manager.
- Full project team member role.
- Top priority over the first few weeks/months: Gather high value requirements for the implementation of a software application. Candidate should be self-driven and highly organized. Working with individual contributors to identify software needs and how integrations can be developed to implement the new project application.
- The biggest challenge in this role: Competing priorities for individual contributors.
Location is Portland, OR with Work from Home Flexibility. Consultants should reside in the area.
