Meridian Technology Group is seeking a Project Manager (part time).


Description

  • This role requires a highly experienced individual with a solid track record of successfully managing strategic and diverse projects.
  • May be assigned to manage multiple initiatives/activities per year.
  • Position will also be point person for writing portions of a regulatory document which requires more formal business writing experience.
     
  • This role will be working with a team and other core partners on refining, writing, editing, and updating a 3-year TE plan according to PUC Division 87 regulators. Transportation Electrification has 14 individuals who are program developers, program managers or a data analyst and work on implementing TE customer programs.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Refine project plan that include deliverables, work breakdown structure, stakeholder list, roles and responsibilities, dependencies, detailed project plan and timelines to meet business objectives and regulatory deadlines.
  • Lead project team in project execution, ensuring compliance with standard project management methodologies.
  • Establish and maintain formal controls to manage and monitor project scope, quality and schedule to ensure project is completed on time and effectively. Negotiate necessary project changes with project sponsor. Maintain, adjust and update project plans as needed.
  • Develop communication plans. Provide timely, accurate communication of project plans and status to internal partners and prepare materials for external stakeholder workshops.
  • Perform risk management to ensure risks are identified, tracked and minimized.
  • Work effectively with multiple organizations such as the Transportation Electrification programs, rates and regulatory affairs, strategic planning, program implementation, engineering, finance and accounting, and other business partners to ensure successful completion of project.
  • Effectively lead cross-functional teams in completing business critical and strategic project.
  • Close out project, capturing lessons learned during the project for input to improving future projects.
  • Assist managers in establishing process controls in order to measure baseline and post-improvement performance to monitor success of improvement initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities and recommend solutions for improving operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Drive budget and cost effectiveness analysis, including alignment between the Business Line and Finance

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED 4-5 years experience
  • Thorough knowledge of project management science, methodologies and standards.
  • Excellent clear, concise communication skills, both written and oral, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to learn regulatory requirements and write written documentation to support meeting the requirements
  • Excellent negotiation and persuasion
  • Excellent listening skills, including the ability to draw information out and to see things from another’s perspective.
  • Proven problem solving skills and the ability to facilitate and resolve problems, arrive at consensus of business need and viable solution; comprehensive knowledge of problem analysis.
  • Excellent consulting skills.
  • Strong human relations skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of MS Project, PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Visio.
  • Typically 8-10 years of project management experience
  • Typically a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Psychology or English.
  • Prefer Current Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Familiarity with basic financial concepts such as budgeting and cost effectiveness

  • Excellent clear, concise communication skills, both written and oral, and presentation skills.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to facilitate and resolve problems, arrive at consensus of business need and viable solution; comprehensive knowledge of problem analysis.

  • Utilities experience required is not required but it would be helpful.

Education Requirements (Experience in Lieu of Degree):
  • Project management and technical writing
  • Preferences: PMP

Interview Preference:
  • TEAMS
 
  • “A day in the life”: Scheduling meetings, running meetings, gathering data needed for the TE plan, analyzing the right fit, and ensuring new processes or systems work for TE plan creation and tracking the program success after PUC approval.
  • Interaction level with this role have the team members and hiring manager: A lot of interaction with team members and weekly meetings with strategic planning lead and bi-weekly meetings with managers of TE and Strategic Planning teams.
  • The top priority for the worker over the first few weeks/months: Reviewing the current TE plan, reviewing the 2025 TE project plan and learning the various stages with key stakeholders and then holding a kickoff meeting.
  • The biggest challenge in this role: Learning the internal teams and what they do. Getting timely data and responses from multiple teams and individuals.

This position is located in Location is Portland, OR with Work From Home Flexibility. Consultants should reside in the area.
