Meridian Technology Group is seeking a Project Manager.
Title: Smart Grid Test Bed Project Manager
Description:
- Project Manager (PM) within the company's Smart Grid Test Bed overseeing end-to-end smart grid demonstrations.
- Day-to-day work to be led by Team Lead, with select projects delivered solely by the PM.
- This role will lead/facilitate projects, take direction from the team lead, and follow-up with internal and external team members for action items.
- The role will report to the hiring manager and take day-to-day direction from the team lead.
- The role will be accountable for project and portfolio deliverables, in addition to project management tasks/action items.
Tasks include:
- Project/technical delivery:
- Manage and deliver select Smart Grid Test Bed field and customer facing projects, including ownership of the scope, schedule, budget, and risk management.
- Provide engineer/field design recommendations, as needed
- Project support:
- Track, document, and file items in SharePoint
- Create write-ups for various meetings or organizations
- Check with project partners on status of pending or overdue items
- SharePoint: Manage organization of and upload PPT/documentation files to the team SharePoint site.
- Notetaking: Generally expected to be taking notes for every meeting, including attendance.
- Meetings: Managing calendar invites and internal/external attendee invites.
- A typical day may include:
- Overseeing completion of daily/weekly project tasks and deliverables
- Vendor contracting and negotiations
- Vendor contract management
- Review and recommendation of project financials
- Review and recommendation of project resourcing
- Review and mitigation of risks/issues
- Leading daily meetings with team members
- Meeting note-taking and action item follow-up
- Developing and reviewing key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Weekly/monthly status reporting
- Providing report outs to senior leadership
- Coordinating with vendors and staff
- Developing presentations
- Writing and responding to communications from stakeholders
- Traveling to vendor offices and field sites
- Strategic SGTB use case planning and demonstration capability review
- The top priority for the worker over the first few weeks/months:
- Quickly learning the key project partners/vendors, and beginning to lead formal project management in coordination with the team lead.
- The biggest challenge in this role:
- Integrating quickly with in-flight projects and software systems
- Utilities experience is required
- Top 3 Must-Haves (Hard and/or Soft Skills):
- Clear communicator (written and verbal)
- Prior utility project management experience (technology implementation or customer programs)
- Self-starter (strategically plans ahead)
- Top 3 Nice-To-Haves (Hard and/or Soft Skills)
- Distributed Energy Resources (DER) technical expertise
- Utility customer programs expertise
- Utility financial tracking/budget management expertise
- Education Requirements:
- Bachelors degree, Masters preferred
- Certification Requirements:
- None required, Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred
- Years of experience:
- 5-10 years
- Will require 2 - 3 days in office
This position is located in Location is Portland, OR with Work from Home Flexibility. Consultants should reside in the area or indicate the reason they are willing/seeking to relocate.
Any offer of employment will be conditional, based on successfully passing a Criminal Background Check.
- This will be an Hourly, W-2 Contract position with Meridian as your Employer.
- Assignment is Hybrid requiring 2-3 days per week onsite.
- Assignment Duration: 7 Months
- Hourly Pay Rate Range: $65.00 to $67.00 per hour.
