Meridian Technology Group has a great opportunity for a Controls Engineer. This is a NOT a contract position, it is a direct hire fulltime position with our client in Flower Mound, TX. Job Description/Overview: Controls Engineer

    As a Controls Engineer you will possess and develop an understanding and utilization of global control standards, including knowledge of Automation Controls and Networks. Responsibilities will involve designing, installing and commissioning of the equipment controls. Be a contributor to devising new approaches or innovation to the controls and automation of our equipment in a team environment. You will be called upon to share development advancements pertaining to controls of internal and external customers/partners. Understanding of global or regional safety requirements as it pertains to our equipment and its controls.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Experience programming PLC systems from scratch (Allen Bradley & Siemens- preferred)
  • WonderWare skills (must have- make sure it is on your resume or in cover letter)
  • Ethernet and Network knowledge
  • RSLogix 5000 programing
  • MS SQL Database (nice to have knowledge of)
  • Accredited training courses in the above would be an advantage
  • Experience in the food industry a distinct advantage
  • Experience in a continuous process environment
  • Evidence of creating Method Statements and Risk Assessments
  • Experience of using AutoCAD, preferably but not a requirement
  • Familiar with CE and Health and Safety requirements
  • Willingness to take action beyond the positions explicit responsibilities
  • Familiar with the Microsoft Office software packages (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Have excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Be flexible in approach to work
  • Project Management Skills (or desire to obtain such skills)
  • Leadership Skills
  • Decision making skills and possessing the appropriate knowledge and expertise to support those decisions
  • Possess passion, drive and a sense of urgency in driving assignments to completion
Typical Duties:
  • Design or review of automation and network design layouts of our equipment
  • Commission PLC controls for food process, product handling and packaging equipment
  • Help guide global controls standard development and its impact in the areas of your expertise
  • Work with other engineering disciplines (Mechanical) to deliver a successful project
  • Advise and assist the Sales and Project teams to win new business (Advisor to costing, design and controls related questions as they pertain to the project)
  • Create proposals
  • Help design training material or manuals as it relates to controls
  • Write functional design specification for projects (Sample FDS will be provided to help with the development)
  • Design and/or supervise design of electrical control systems
  • Prepare circuit drawings for the purpose of manufacture and/or sub-contract
  • Design and/or supervise design of PLC, HMI and SCADA control systems
  • Create and update the wiring diagrams associated with the control system
  • Assist in the selection of successful tenders for electrical sub-contract project work
  • Successfully commission systems and train operators and plant engineers as it pertains to the equipment or system controls
  • Expected regional travel will be 20% to 30%. Travel outside the region is possible but would be infrequent
  • May need to from time to time develop method statements and Risk Assessments prior to beginning site work
  • Maintain a current awareness of trends and techniques in the application of electronics, PLC and electrical equipment
