Meridian Technology Group is seeking a Server Administrator.


DESCRIPTION

  • Acting as a lead worker, you will be responsible for the planning, design, implementation, maintenance, and decommission of the infrastructure and services that they are assigned.
  • Coordinate and assign work scheduled by the IT Supervisor to the employees in their team.
  • Act as the quality control for adherence to best practices, security principles, scalability, and supportability of the infrastructure.
  • Work collaboratively with the IT Supervisor to ensure that the infrastructure can deliver the services our citizens need.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED
  • Work under the general supervision of an Information Technology Supervisor who assigns work, establishes goals, and reviews work for conformance to technical and department standards and compliance with department goals.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED
  • Supervision of other employees is not a responsibility of positions in this classification; however, incumbents in this classification exercise lead direction over other Information Technology personnel as directed by management.


TYPICAL DUTIES

Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Infrastructure Administration

  • Maintain responsibility for the design, implementation, documentation, and decommissioning of infrastructure and services that are assigned, that meets applicable goals and objectives as defined by business and departmental objectives.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the standards, processes, procedures, of how the infrastructure is monitored, managed, and maintained.
  • Collaborate with project managers and technical services teams to identify and mitigate problems and incidents with the infrastructure and services that are assigned.
  • Monitor, Manage, and Maintain Technologies
  • Maintain responsibility for the monitoring, management, and maintenance of the infrastructure that they are assigned.
  • Monitor infrastructure for performance, capacity, and other potential risks.
  • Manage the infrastructure ensuring that the configuration, capacity, security, and availability requirements are met, and exceptions are documented.
  • Maintain the infrastructure through proactive patching, lifecycle replacement and routine maintenance.
  • Ensure that maintenance downtime is communicated to all appropriate personnel and change management procedures are followed.
Infrastructure Support
  • Provide technical support for the infrastructure assigned.
  • Collaborate with support operations, development, and our customers to ensure that infrastructure related incidents and problems are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Provide support for technical teams through documentation, guide, and act as a subject matter expert for the infrastructure they are assigned.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours infrastructure support.
Technical Lead / Subject Matter Expert (SME)
  • Collaborate with IT Supervisor and other team members to derive solutions that achieve business objectives.
  • Review infrastructure and services that are delivered to ensure that a high-quality product is delivered.
  • Assign work items to other employees within the team assigned.
Other Duties
  • Participate in meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc. for the purpose of gathering information required to perform job functions.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Microsoft Enterprise Services, networking, virtualization cloud (e.g., Azure, AWS), and storage technologies
  • Configurations of internet and intranet-based applications
  • Active Directory management, to include Azure Active Directory; network security concepts; management of NAS and SAN storage solutions
  • Management lifecycle of storage infrastructure
  • Storage and SAN Monitoring best practices
  • Working with various operating systems in physical and virtualized environments such as VMWare
  • Advanced research and analysis concepts and techniques
  • Project management and supervision techniques
  • General planning concepts
  • Skill and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Convey technical and complex information to staff
  • Assign work and evaluate staff performance
  • Troubleshoot and resolve client/user concerns and operational problems
  • Assess capacity and future needs of network system
  • Perform network installations
  • Train and direct others in use of system
  • Coordinate and implement projects
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with system users and other county personnel
  • Ability to fix complex system problems with minimum impact to users.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
  • Bachelor's degree in computer systems or related area; AND Four years of responsible technical experience in systems administration, including two years providing lead direction over other server administrators; OR any satisfactory combination of work, education, training, or experience relevant to the position, as determined by client.


This position is located in Salem, OR. Consultants should reside in the area or indicate the reason they are willing/seeking to relocate. Also, interested Consultants must indicate they are willing to relocate at their own expense as this position does not offer relocation assistance.
