Meridian Technology Group is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer.

Responsibilities:
  • Provides solutions to streamline military standard test processes, including thermal testing and vibration testing, resulting in dramatically improved test efficiency
  • Resolves testing issues on the spot while ensuring design integrity allowing us to stay on schedule
  • Facilitate a close relationship with Engineering during design, build, and test to provide design feedback
  • Personally and/or leads a team to uncover root-cause and develop a permanent resolution on issues found during testing
  • Develops a robust set of test machinery critical spares ensuring complete uptime
  • Determine schedule impacts for unforeseen design changes in test regimen
  • Provide clear communication between Test Engineering and Production floor
  • Figure out optimal sequencing of testing to boost efficiency
  • Confers with Engineering and suppliers concerning product tooling to ensure efficient production methods and schedules.
  • Utilizing lean manufacturing tools recommend improvements in production methods, standards, tooling, equipment, layout, procedures, product designs and employee efficiency
  • Support the transition of engineering projects from development to volume production
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities for yield, performance and cost
  • Works with design team in response to manufacturing problems, parts obsolescence and minor requirement changes.
  • Prepares and maintains documentation required to ensure efficient production of manufacturing and integration.
  • Participate in design reviews to conduct DFM and DFT recommendations with innovative and cost effective solutions
  • Create process instructions/training packages from design requirements
  • Identify and lead continuous improvement opportunities for yield, performance and cost
  • Simplify production processes and reduce Hours per Vehicle and Engineered Hours per Vehicle
  • Conduct PFMEA studies to reduce flight risks
  • Interface with production and engineering leadership to:
  • Achieve product TAKT rate
  • Develop and correct process flow to ensure workloads are balanced
  • Support the transition of engineering projects from development to volume production
  • Influence design engineering with regard to design for manufacturability and assembly
  • Works with design team in response to manufacturing problems, parts obsolescence and minor requirement changes.
  • Responsible for development, design, and procurement of new processes
  • Select and qualify new tools/equipment to improve production efficiency and quality
  • Develop and implement equipment maintenance schedules, backup solutions, and spare parts holding for machinery
Basic Qualifications:
  • BS in Electrical/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or related field
  • Must have 2+ years' experience in Avionics or Electrical manufacturing
  • Hands-on electronic, electro-mechanical work.
  • Experience with Design for Manufacturability, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Failure Mode Effects Analysis
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Mechanical design (CAD) is a plus
  • Mil-Std 1540 testing experience is a plus
  • Experience in a high mix, low volume manufacturing environment

  • Demonstrated ability to achieve aggressive product goals and company objectives
  • Able to adapt to constant changing work assignments and fast paced work environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail with outstanding work efficiency and accuracy.
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Demonstrated ability to read, interpret controlled documentation and processes such as:
  • Layout drawings
  • Mechanical Drawings, GD&T
  • Test Procedures / Work instructions
  • Schematics, engineering drawings, and parts list.
  • Ability to distinguish colors is required.
  • Able to work overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Able to travel for short and extended trips as needed
  • Proficient with computers, the ability to use MS Office, shop floor management software (ERP) and related programs.
  • A strong commitment to achieving goals and hitting deadlines
  • A self-motivated, self-starter, able to understand and synthesize project, team and customer needs
  • Strong team ethic, positive attitude and EXCELLENT inter-personal skills
  • Good grasp of financial aspects of manufacturing
  • Must be able to write clear reports and present information to senior management
