The Business Intelligence Manager we seek has strong experience in the implementation of Microsoft Power BI and its integration of and with other BI DW tools (SSRS, SSIS, etc. )

Duties:


  • Lead pilot and implementation efforts for the Microsoft Business intelligence suite of tools, including new SSRS 2016 upgrades and Power BI analytical tools.
    • Lead the agency wide implementation of Microsoft Power BI
    • Lead end to end Power BI projects in the implementation and use of the new tool
    • Lead the development and implementation of the new Power BI cloud environment and related processes to allow users develop, publish, share and integrate Power BI reports/ data with existing legacy system and Data Warehouse on premise data sources.
  • Manage development and operations as it relates to Business Intelligence /of the Data Warehouse Information systems, and provide consultative business products, technical and analytical services (data, reports, analysis, interpretation of data, and related strategies and recommendations) primarily for Highway Division customers as well as other customers.
  • Work closely with user community to develop dashboards, operational, ad hoc reporting from conceptual design through delivery. 
    • Act as subject matter expert with a strong working knowledge of relational and multi-dimensional data sources, reporting, analysis and processing.
    • Gather requirements, document use cases, and analyze data to determine conceptual solution designs.
    • Work closely with IS development staff to develop data models/ensure that customer report solutions comply with overall data architecture, business requirements, and standards.
    • Write complex data queries using business intelligence programming languages including MDX, SQL, DAX and M.
    • Create reporting mock-ups and prototypes
    • Manage or provide oversight for the development of end user reports.
    • Manage the Request for Report system, estimating and prioritizing customer report requests, assigning work to the BI team, and communicating with customers
    • Lead a BI report developer resource and a BI intern.
  • Lead BI Training
    • Organize, develop materials and lead user-group labs and BI tool trainings,
    • Share any new reporting, analytics and technology concepts in order to maximize user engagement and proficiency.
  • BI market research
    • Conduct continual BI market tool / platform research and evaluation, with a strong focus on keeping up with the evolution of the suite of Microsoft BI tools for both cloud and on-premises analytics.
  • Document BI processes
